Room reveal

I confess...

Dathans been sleeping in Makenzie's room she had before she moved out, it was bubble gum pink. Two and a half months later he finally got a more boy appropriate room! (someday his wife will thank me for helping him get in touch with his sensitive side, right?)

The before:

Why, yes that is a TV in his room... We didn't know where to put it after moving rooms around. It's so big we just left it until we could figure out where to put it. Ha! It currently sits in our bathroom waiting to go downstairs... Drew's always dreamed of a TV in the bathroom, now if only he could fit in there with it.

The during:

My awesome brother! Yeah he's also a firefighter in the Air Force , so he checked all our smoke alarms too.

We had to take breaks to hang out with the little guy. Most of the day Dathan spent with his Nonna and Opa, made for a much quicker work day!

The after:

Still some work to be done, but looks much better!

Twins

A few weeks ago we had a baby shower for my friend... She's having twins.

Jordyn had been put on hospital bed rest back in February, a week before D was born. She spent 80 days in the hospital and was sent home with the twins healthy, still inside her belly. With lots of prayer and modern medicine both boys are bigger than 5lbs and looking very strong. Also neither of them are budging! So miss J is scheduled for a C-section this Friday! This is a quick update, I know a few of you had jordyn in your prayers these past few weeks!

So the theme of the baby shower was Dr. Seuss, Thing 1 and Thing 2. How appropriate for twins! Her friend Jess was in charge of logistics- like the who, what, where, when stuff! She is super organized and not a procrastinator like me. I was in charge of the artsy stuff. Now, I've got some artistic ability but the truth is I'm an excellent delegator. So in true Amanda fashion I recruited some other artsy types. I got my sister Arielle and sister-in-love Korinne. Arielle is like me though, she did some of the artsy stuff... But by the end we were just "supervising" Korinne, ok more like eating the leftovers and telling stories. In short the shower was a hit, held in the hospital but ohhhh so cute!
Here you go...

One fish, two fish

Dr. Suess diaper cake!

There was lots of food, fun and baby clothes! All the makings of a great party. Two days until the little guys are born... I am very excited.

3 things you should never pay for.

Toothpaste, contact solution, and soap. (and now with a baby... Desitin)

I'm no extreme coupon-er, but way back in the day my mother-in-law showed me the secret to CVS.

1. Always keep toothpaste, contact solution, and soap coupons. You need these things always, so saving them you are not saving a coupon that you won't use.
2.CVS always has those bucks back deals. Example: 2.99 for Colgate toothpaste (limit 2) get 2.00 cash back. Insert two 1.00 coupon. Total 5.98 - 2.00 coupons= 3.98 then in your receipt you should get 4.00 cash back. Lotta math I know! But basically you just made 2 pennies off CVS.
3. Those bucks back... You don't have to wait until your next shopping trip to use them. Stand right there (with a friendly smile so the cashier lady doesn't get annoyed) make your next transaction and buy your next items using that 4.00.
4. Desitin is an item runners use to avoid chaffing... So go get fit and run some races! The goodie bag always has a tube of it. I'm pretty sure we have enough for the entire first 3 years of D's life!
5. You can't be brand picky. Free is free people! I used hotel soap this morning from one of my moms business trips, yep we are cheap! She has hundreds of bars of soap, I help her keep her stockpile down.

I'm no pro like my mother-in-law, I've seen that woman walk out the door where the store owed her money!! She's had a few more years to practice.

-I didn't ask her yet, but I'm sure if you have coupon questions or want some lessons she would share her secrets:)

Back to my Monday!
